The Upper Allen Police Department would like to announce that a Medicine Return Box is now located in the lobby of the police department. There is no fee associated with the disposal of these medications and users are asked to either remove all prescription medication labels or place all the pills in a plastic bag. The return box will be available for use during normal business hours which is Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Items not to be deposited into the box are intravenous solutions, injectables, needles, and liquids.

Reporting dead deer and other wildlife

If a deer is struck by a vehicle, but not killed, drivers are urged to stay their distance because some deer may recover and move on. However, if a deer does not move on, or poses a public safety risk, drivers are encouraged to report the incident to a Game Commission regional office or other local law enforcement agency. If the deer must be put down, the Game Commission will direct the proper person to do so.

To report a dead deer for removal from state roads, motorists can call the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation at 1-800-FIX-ROAD

Cumberland County Commissioners Close Bishop Bridge

The Cumberland County Commissioners closed Bishop Bridge to all traffic effective June 30, 2014 until funding becomes available to repair or replace the bridge. Repairs to the bridge are estimated at approximately $500,000. According to Cumberland County Planning Department, the shortest timeframe to reopen the bridge even if funding was available today would be nearly three years due to PennDOT and Corps of Engineer approvals. The timeframe for full replacement is in excess of $3 million and 5 years.

Cumberland County owns 28 bridges throughout the county. At least 12 of the 28 bridges are structurally deficient and in need of repair or replacement. Due to the limited vehicular traffic on Bishop Bridge, which is estimated at 145 trips per day, it is not high on the priority list for funding.

Please click here for the official detour map.
